Zanaco get vital away goal from Young Africas Sports Club

      Unknown       11 March 2017

MTN FAZ Super League champions Zanaco scored a vital away goal at Young Africans (Yanga) of Tanzania in the 2017 Caf Champions League first round, first leg match played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.
Mumamba Numba’s men went behind in the 39th minute when Simon Msuva netted from close range for the home side but Attram Kwame equalised with 12 minutes remaining on the clock to give Zanaco confidence heading into the second leg scheduled for Nkoloma Stadium next weekend.
“First and foremost I would like to thank Yanga for the warm hospitality which they accorded us since we arrived in Tanzania. Coming to the match, it was a 50-50 affair because both teams played very well. We conceded that goal due to a lapse in concentration towards the end of the first half,” Numba told supersport.com in a post-match interview.
“But we came out strongly in the second half and managed to get an equalizer, which is good enough for us to take to the second leg in Zambia. A scoring draw is good for us. All we need is to prepare adequately so that we get a positive result which will take us to the group stage.”
And scorer of the equalizer Kwame believes that the away go puts Zanaco in a good position to progress to the expanded group stage.
“The game was very tough. It could go still goal either way but we are thankful that we managed to get the vital away goal as we return to Zambia for the second leg, we are going to try by all means to qualify to the group stage,” said Kwame.
The second leg is scheduled for Saturday, March 18 at Nkoloma Stadium
