Big money
Liverpool will rival Chelsea for Southampton defender Virgin van Dijk this summer in a deal that could cost up to an incredible £50m.
The Dutchman has become one of the best central defenders in the Premier League and is very hotly tipped for a bigger club.
Chelsea were said to be in pole position but Everton were also said to be interested at one stage.
It is yet to be seen whether the Toffees could convince Van Dijk to move but Liverpool have emerged as serious rivals to Chelsea’s bid.
The deal could potentially become the most expensive Premier League transfer if Southampton are able to entice a bidding war.
Defensive reinforcement
Liverpool are certainly in the market for some top class defenders and several names including Van Dijk have been mentioned.
Burnley’s Michael Keane is also a target but Liverpool will face rivalry yet again from Merseyside rivals Everton.
The Englishman was given his first appearance and start for England on Wednesday and is tipped for a bright future.
