    Egypt blame weather for exit ,AFCON20;

      Unknown       05 March 2017

    Egypt coach Moatamed Gamal Abdelaziz has blamed the weather conditions and state of the pitch for his side’s 3-1 loss to an in-form Zambian side on Saturday in the last Group A tie that eliminated them from the ongoing Afcon U20.
    The Junior Pharaohs managed just two points from three games including a goalless draw with Mali before a much-better Guinean side held them to a 1-all draw on Thursday.
    Abdelaziz has consistently said that his team does not know how to play on a wet pitch and emphasized that the rainy season did not do them any favours throughout the tournament.
    “The weather conditions were not good for us so we suffered because of this. However, against Zambia, I feel that we reached 70% of our potential and we did very well especially in the first half,” he explained to supersport.com.
    “We had to gain more than two points from this game in order to proceed to the semifinals but we failed to achieve our target. I am, however, proud of the boys and how they played.”
    Egypt managed to score two goals and conceded four in three games as they failed to qualify for the Fifa U20 World Cup for the fourth consecutive time after they hosted the 2009 edition.
    Zambia and Guinea progressed from Group A with the latter qualifying for the Fifa U20 World Cup for the first time since 1979.
