Liverpool have been handed the devastating news that Adam Lallana will miss ‘at least’ four weeks with a thigh strain. Sources close to the 28-year-old have told us he took a kick late on in England’s game against Lithuania and also suffered a slight dead leg.
He is out of the Merseyside Derby this weekend but Liverpool hope Lallana will recover sooner than the initial four-week diagnosis.
Lallana wasn’t pictured training at Melwood with the rest of the squad today and this news will come as a blow to Liverpool’s chances of maintaining their push on Champions League qualification.
The midfielder has been in fine form for club and country, with three goals and an assist in his last 5 appearances for England.
Lucas Leiva is the most likely player to step into midfield in the absence of Lallana.
Below are the games Lallana could miss in the run-in:
Everton (H)
Bournemouth (H)
Stoke (A)
WBA (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Watford (A)
